Until today I forged in a coal fire, which was very hard to controll sometimes. Thats why I build myself a propane forge. all the parts I need to weld, or which get hot later, need to be treated with HCl to remove the zinc. I neutralised with baking soda. Everything outside of the burner tube needs to be weldet leakproof. The adjustable air intake is not necessary needed. I use a 0,8 mm nozzle, same as with my drycell. Because I have no adapter from left to right threadings, I simply used a hose noozle. The pressure regulater reaches from 0,5 to 4 bars. This part is very important! Those firebricks hold up to 1400 degrees C. The lid is also a firebrick, just so save material I used Ytong on the backside. Thise firebrick-glue (1600°C) is just to protect against the borax fumes. If you don´t use borax, you wont need it. To catch the liquid borax I use this non insulating fireclay. Soon I will try to forge my very first damascus knive! Thats why I need the borax. Thanks for watching, I am gonna link you the video about my treadle hammer in the encard, and please support the channel with a like and a sub. Thanks! see ya next time!
